David Gilmour is a stratospherically talented guitarist; however, this aspect of his career tends to overshadow the fact that he is also terrific vocalist. To most fans, David’s is the preferred voice of Pink Floyd. Calming and beautifully haunting, in four decades David’s voice has held up incredibly well. No real difference exists between David singing in 2006 vs. 1969 … his voice is slightly deeper, but its clarity has remained virtually unchanged! David’s voice is perfect for rocking babies to sleep due to its lullaby effect — it’s true; just ask any mom. Songs in this video, set to various nature scenes, are as follows (please note that David is singing main vocals as well as harmonies, via multi-tacking): 1969: Cymbaline 1970: Fat Old Sun 1970: Embryo 1972: Wot’s the Deal 1973: Breathe 1973: Us and Them 1979: Hey You 1979: Mother 1979: Comfortably Numb 1987: On the Turning Away… |

“Wot’s… Uh the Deal?” is a song from Pink Floyd’s 1972 album, Obscured by Clouds Watch my other Pink Floyd covers on my channel Lyrics Heaven sent the promised land Looks all right from where I stand ‘Cause I’m the man on the outside looking in Waiting on the first step Show me where the key is kept Point me down the right line Because it’s time To let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold ‘Cause there’s a chill wind blowin’ in my soul And I think I’m growing old Flash the readies Wot’s..uh the deal? Got to make it to the next meal Try to keep up with the turning of the wheel Mile after mile, stone after stone You turn to speak but you’re alone Million miles from home you’re on your own So let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold ‘Cause there’s a chill wind blowin’ in my soul And I think I’m growing old Fire bright by candlelight and her by my side And if she prefers we never stir again Someone sent the promised land And I grabbed it with both hands Now I’m the man on the inside looking out Hear me shout Come on in What’s the news? where you’ve been? ‘Cause there’s no wind left in my soul And I’ve grown old David Gilmour — acoustic guitars, slide guitar and vocals Richard Wright — piano and Hammond organ Roger Waters — bass Nick Mason — percussion I do not own this song This video and audio is a tribute to the band… |
