FREE backing tracks at this site… www(.)gilmourish(.)com. Check it out. I am playing a Gibson Les Paul Standard `58 re-issue, to a backing track. I am improvising the solo’s, I never learned them note-for-note, no tabs, no sheet music. These images are of David Gilmour throughout his musical career. ~ guitar5054 I did not write or own this music or pictures in the slide show. No copywrite infringement intended. What do you want from me As you look around this room tonight Settle in your seats and dim the lights Do you want my blood, do you want my tears What do you want What do you want from me Should I sing until I can’t sing any more Play these strings until my fingers are raw You’re so hard to please What do you want from me Do you think that I know something you don’t know What do you want from me If I don’t promise you the answers would you go What do you want from me Should I stand out in the rain Do you want me to take a daisy chain for you I’m not the one you need What do you want from me You can have anything you want You can drift, you can dream, even walk on water Anything you want You can own everything you see Sell your soul for complete control Is that really what you need You can lose yourself this night See inside there is nothing to hide Turn and face the light What do you want from me… |

There is a lot of commercial clutter on the net, and a lot of propaganda, but I have a sense that just beneath the surface understanding is gaining ground. We just have to keep blogging, keep twittering, keep communicating, keep sharing ideas. 30 Years ago when I wrote The Wall I was a frightened young man. Well not that young, I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with it’s concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns.: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, Whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life. This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years. In some quarters, among the chattering classes, there exists a cynical view that human beings as a …… |
