Sort track I tried to achieve a pyschedelic sound with. I multitracked a lot of keyboards for this. There is a guitar solo in the middle but it is mangled into near inaudibility! Not sure it is psychedelic in the traditional sense. It doesn’t remind me of The Grateful Dead or Pink Floyd… any ideas?…

La letra trata sobre el daño que los humanos ocasionan a la Tierra y la manera en que estos daños afectan también al hombre. La canción empieza con sonidos de sintetizadores en la escala de Sol mayor y después de dos compases se une la guitarra de Gilmour con arpegios de la escala. Luego de varios compases se une la batería y empieza Gilmour a cantar los versos en un ritmo de 4/4. La canción tiene varios interludios cantados e instrumentales y en los estribillos se reduce el ritmo. Termina con los sintetizadores en Sol mayor, que en The Division Bell se conectan con los de la introducción de Coming Back to Life que están en Do mayor (la cuarta de la escala de Sol mayor). Got into the zone for this one. Part of me was kinda already there anyway. Picture this; you are a jet setting pop star touring America. You ring back home to talk to your wife..and a man answers the phone..then hangs up. You ring again, he answers again; and then hangs up. You crumble and for the next forever you sit alone in the middle of a pitch dark room with a TV in front of you, banging numbly against the remote control. Not Comfortably numb..but Uncomfortably numb..until they sedate you and take you away..to perform the next show!! Delightful. To me Floyd were always like musical drugs. For those who did not take any; and probably for those who did too;) The copyright belongs to the original artists….
