Live at Pompeii è un video della progressive rock dei Pink Floyd, pubblicato nel 1972. Si tratta di un concerto eseguito nell’anfiteatro di Pompei in assenza del pubblico, con la sola presenza dello staff tecnico. Il film concerto è girato dal regista Adrian Maben, e resta tuttora un passaggio memorabile della storia del rock, sia per l’esecuzione in uno spazio vuoto, sia per gli effetti audio-visivi utilizzati. La pellicola, realizzata in coproduzione con la televisione francese, è anche fonte di una nutrita serie di aneddoti, di cui il più noto riguarda la fornitura di corrente elettrica per gli impianti della band e per i proiettori di scena: scoperto che nell’area archeologica non v’era sufficiente potenza, si dovette in tutta fretta stendere una prolunga di parecchi chilometri che partiva dal comune di Pompei e che fu letteralmente “piantonata” da numerosi volontari lungo tutto il percorso fra i campi, giorno e notte, per tutto il periodo delle riprese, in modo da evitare che fosse danneggiata o interrotta per eventuali allacci abusivi. Proprio per questo inconveniente i sei giorni previsti per le riprese furono ridotti a tre e non furono sufficienti per registrare tutto il materiale necessario costringendo il regista a prendere spezzoni suonati in studio ai quali venne applicato uno sfondo. * Uno dei brani, Mademoiselle Nobs, è interpretato da un levriero russo di nome Nobs, di proprietà di un’artista di circo, una certa Madonna Bouglione. Nobs è anche un anagramma ……

This is the point during the second half of the show when one of the attendants told me to put away my camera, despite the fact it was out the whole time during the first half and no one said anything to me. As a devoted fan to Pink Floyd who wanted to make a count down of their best songs, I had the duty of making this vid. It took me a couple of hours and I did not avoid confrontations with Windows Movie Maker (it crashed around eighty times NO JOKE). One thing that worked well though was recording the song samples with ”Freecorder”. What an amazing piece of software. You can use it to record sound off of video websites like Youtube. For each and every spot in the Top 75, I gave the thing well enough thought to make sure everything is truly a choice of mine, nothing altered by general opinions. I didn’t leave a single one of their albums behind, even the less known ones, so many people will probably hear some songs they didn’t know existed. After visiting Many Glacier, we traveled on the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park in August, 2010. It was a an unforgettable experience. Had some rain and there was some road construction going on, but there was beauty everywhere. Must go back again someday. Wish you were here is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. It is from the Echoes album….
