Pink Floyd – A Saucerful Of Secrets A Saucerful Of Secrets (1968) The transitional album by the Floyd after Syd Barrett’s firing. It was during the recording of this album that Pink Floyd was briefly a quintet.Although Barrett did not contribute much, what he did contribute was pretty good….Jugband Blues, the sliding guitar on Remember A Day and a little bit on Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun….The centerpiece of the album was the title track which disturbed the label as it made up a full 12 minutes of the 39 minute album. The importance of A Saucerful Of Secrets was that it was a stepping stone in a writing and recording progression that spawned Atom Heart Mother which progressed into Echoes which was the architect of Dark Side Of The Moon. My apologies for the edit which bridges Something Else and Syncopated Pandemonium…It was necessary to fit the song in the time limit…. |
